The Sweetest Thing

So I thought I would save this beloved U2 title for something that I saw on the race, but it's the only one that fits right now…

What is the sweetest thing?

Sitting here in my kitchen, typing on my mac, with the window open revealing a still shining sun (it's 7pm! I LOVE the long summer days), reflecting on how I already have such a STRONG support system for this world race! 6 months ago as my best friend Genelle has written I had no idea that, A: this opportunity existed or B: that the Lord was going to catapult me from my sweet little world! NOW: my family has graciously "allowed" me to go on this trip with their blessing and growing encouragement, and my friends daily give me a pep talk or a listening ear to my many excited ramblings over this journey, and I am getting to know the October world racers and they are GREAT! ☺

Ok so why is today the Sweetest Thing? Because I just had a FABULOUS time with the Lord and I have been BLESSED by His nearness and His provision through some pretty stellar folks! People have started to stand up and say YES I will pray daily For Alex and the totally rad October team, and YES I will give of my hard earned money to send her on this mission pilgrimage! I am praying sooo hard that people will believe in this ministry but now the fact that I can see they want me to go and are helping me go just brings me to tears. I am humbled and blessed and really overwhelmingly moved! Seeing my army of supporters begin to gather is just incredible!
And now my dad is home and sharing in my joy, and telling me all about his workout so I gotta go…he's so cute! ☺

All the Small Things

Tonya and I make signs

Yesterday my friends' Tonya and Lexi, and I had a tri-fecta garage sale! Tonya and Lexi are going on a mission trip to Israel, with Burn 24/7.

The morning started at 5am, with my two friends trying to get me off the couch (mornings are not my forte) then looking at all the stuff in the garage and wondering, seriously? can we organize this in and hour and a half.

Well we totally did, and it was a LONG but very fun day. The Lord far exceeded our expectations, just like Lexi prayed, He took our fish and loaves, andmultiplied it greatly! Thank you Lord!!

Us in the garage Pre setting up and sale

*Many hands made this day possible!*

My mother worked her tail off helping me find stuff in our garage, giving me pricing ideas and calling me mid garage sale to tell me she was praying for us and that we needed to be tough with our prices (haha!) Mom you're such a servant!

My dad hung out with us allllllll day! I called him at 6 ish am and was like, "daaaad please come help us!" (in my most sweetest loving daughter in need kinda voice) and he totally did. He made a lunch run for us, helped us talk to some of the customers AND loaded up his truck with the extras (for garage sale part deux, coming up!) He is a hard working gem of a man, I LOVE you dad!

Tonya's friend, Merlyn. He donated some awesome stuff to the cause, and then through great exertion loaded the truck with this stuff, followed us to Tonya's house a million miles away, AND then unloaded the heavy stuff again, Merlyn you rock!!

Sabrina: for being convinced to come hang out with us AND bring us lunch! T and i were getting quite restless, Sabrina, youre awesome! also for donating those ultra cool containers.

Kathryn, Chris and Jodi: Thank your the wave of reinforcements!! :) They came mid morning and brought us MORE stuff, and Kat hung out with us for awhile! Thank you, dears!!

Namelss boy in the Brandenburg parking lot: Tonya and i trying to load her car and add tables was extremely comical and unfortunately wound provoking (I had to wrap her poor injured thumb in a band aid), soooo said boy walking along was called and he was great help!

Adrienne, Kathryn, Stephanie, Jenny's Parents, Susan: for donating their stuff to our garage sale!!! Your generosity is greatly appreciated and it made our day! :)

Crystal, for being the AMAZING I can make anyone have a fantastic time, girl who cheered Tonya and I up when were dyiiiiiing at the end of the garage sale! I LOVE you!! :)

Dare You To Move

How cool is it that I get to go on the World Race in October?! aaah!

I kind of alluded to this in my bio but the past few months have been ones of considerable growth in my life. I have come out of the stretching beyond recognition part, and am just basking in the delight that is Restoration. I have my Lord to thank for mending my heart and body, and my family and friends for challenging me to go as deep as possible.

What drew me to the World Race? The incredible stories of past and current racers who left it all in pursuit of God's calling. I started my search for an adventure with the thought of teaching English in some random country. Then on a whim I typed in, "1 year mission trip" in Google and as soon as I pulled up the world race page, the hope and desire to go have been with me...intensely! It has touched my heart deeply: Missions, Children, Community, Fervent Prayer, Travel, New Cultures!!! So rad! I mean a chance of a lifetime.

So I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little scared. I read the stories and I know it will be difficult, but mostly I know that God is all in it, so it's gonna be GREAT! I'm excited about going and living it, and coming out of it with a new vision and heart.

I am a fan of the blog so be expecting lots of thoughts pre, during, and post race!

Love!
